Who participates in the Youth Leadership Forum?
Students who will be in the 11th or 12th grade after the YLF and who 
have a disability.  Students should want to discover their potential 
for leadership.
What should students expect at the YLF?
·  To discuss topics such as leadership, systems change, 
   goal setting, disability aware­ness, advocacy, career 
   exploration, disability culture, volunteering and much more.
·  Exciting presenters, community leaders, legislators and 
   other professionals.
·  To identify existing barriers to personal and professional 
   success and develop plans to deal effectively with those 
   barriers.
·  Developing your own Personal Leadership Plan.
·  Participating in large & small group activities with successful 
   leaders, participating in a mock legislative debate in the House 
   of Representatives Chamber,  and more!
What are the requirements to attend this Forum?
To be eligible for the Youth Leadership Forum, students must:
(a) Reside in Oklahoma 
(b) Have a disability
(c) Have demonstrated leadership potential in school and the 
     community
What is involved in the application process?
The “Intent to Apply” application is due to the YLF office no later than
February 1.  The Appli­cation is due to the YLF office no later than March 
9.  Applicants will be contacted by tele­phone to arrange a interview. All 
applicants will be notified by letter whether they are one of 25 youth 
selected to attend the YLF.   Additional detailed information on the Forum 
will be requested by those selected to attend.
Cost:
There is NO charge for student delegates to participate in this Forum. All 
appropriate expenses will be paid by YLF, including lodging, food, and 
accommodations as requested.
